Survey of stored rice pest management practices

Feb 6, 2012

The University of California Cooperative Extension is conducting a survey of pest management practices of stored rice in California. The objective of the survey is to improve our understanding of the kind of pest problems growers, dryers and mills encounter while storing rough rice. This will allow us to determine research and extension needs that can be addressed in future projects.

The surveys were mailed in January, and many completed questionnaires have already been returned. Thanks for your responses. If you store rough rice and did not receive a questionnaire, or misplaced it, call Luis Espino at 530-635-6234 to have a replacement questionnaire sent to you.

Our ultimate goal is to develop an Integrated Pest Management program for stored rough rice in California that can be used by rice growers, dryers and mills. By taking the time to share your thoughts and opinions about the management of stored rough rice you will be helping us with this study, and most importantly, you will help the California rice industry.
