Preliminary yield results from fall-planted 2017-18 variety trials

Aug 7, 2018

Preliminary grain yield results for our fall-planted common wheat, triticale, durum wheat and barley trials are now available on the UC Small Grains Research and Information Center website:

http://smallgrains.ucanr.edu/Variety/Preliminary_2018_Yield_Results/

The results are preliminary and may change as samples are cleaned, processed for quality and corrected for minor variations in moisture content. Final results that include disease and agronomic observations and grain quality outcomes will be available in late-September. Strong field trends were observed in 4 of our 14 common wheat & triticale trials. As a result, these trials (Davis low water, Delta, Fresno low nitrogen, and Imperial) are not currently included in the preliminary results, but will be made available after further statistical analysis.

These results are not intended as variety recommendations and should not be used as such. The true performance of a variety is most reliable when based on data taken across multiple locations and seasons. When final results are presented for the 2017-2018 data, they will include summaries across multiple regions and locations, as appropriate.

We appreciate the tremendous contributions from a wide array of UC Cooperative Extension collaborators that made this year's trial possible!
